Getaway!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

The book Getaway: Driving Techniques For Escape and Evasion by Ronald George Eriksen 2, is a nifty little book on vehicular survival. It’s worth a read for any action novelist. It’s apparently not allowed in Canada.

However, Getaway contains information contradicted by the Buick O’ Truth tests. Eriksen says that “No pistol round can be counted on to penetrate the vehicle body or glass or to flatten a tire” and that “Shotgun loads with the exception of slugs…won’t penetrate the glass, body, or the tires. Slugs, however, will blast huge holes through the vehicle and will almost instantly flatten a tire.”

The Buick O’ Truth testers say “ALL the pistol rounds fired penetrated through the driver’s door into the passenger compartment, with most lodging somewhere in the passenger door” and that “buckshot essentially performed like several slow 9mm rounds, penetrating a single door, but being stopped somewhere in the passenger.”

I’ll go with the source that has pictures. Unfortunately the Buick O’Truth test doesn’t seem to include tires.

Animal Rights Losers Attack Human Food Supply

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

When people are struggling to have enough to eat, it’s good to know that activists are working to make it harder for them.

An Infoshop News post says,

In the early morning of July 23 our cell decided to return to attack exploiters of innocent animals, entering their slaughterhouse, we sprayed gasoline on the tires of a truck, creating chaos and fear to those people who make their living from the suffering of others. The fire spread throughout the complex, leaving machines of enslavement and torture unusable. This is the 4th attack targeting trucks at this SLAUGHTERHOUSE in our town…

This time the target was a dairy shop and warehouse. The darkness of the night was lit by the flame of subversion; with the use of 2 incendiary devices and a little extra gasoline the site was burned; one device was placed in the main door and the other in the window, leaving the electricity and the fabric sign for the place damaged and as if this action was not enough the walls were also painted using paint bombs and spraypaint.

Advocating different treatment of nonhuman beings is one thing. But don’t pretend it’s revolutionary to make life harder for the productive class – authoritarians have been doing just that for millennia – “If you oppose us then we’ll wipe out your food supply!”

It would be funny if those who value the well-being of humans less than the well-being of inferior animals had their houses destroyed and turned into a more favorable habitat for reasonless beasts.

The Win And The Fail 2

The Win
Free .pdf of An Agorist Primer. Samuel Konkin’s explanation of revolutionary market anarchism has gone electronic!

The Fail
Cop apologists. I’m really tired of the whiney blue line between personal responsibility and doing your destructive job. As Thomas Knapp said,

They’re not conscripted. They choose the job — a job which, by the way, is not only not the most dangerous job out there, but doesn’t even make the top ten list.

How Borders Work

Monday, July 27th, 2009

1) People calling themselves a “state” establish boundaries for their claims, usually through violence.

2) Resources are stolen from productive individuals to fortify these boundaries.

3) People try to move across these boundaries (sometimes to land they accessed freely before the state forbid it).

4) Those privileged by state power are concerned by the unauthorized movement of humans, and more violence is used against people trying to cross boundaries.

Like this video I found on Feta Cheese and Falafel, in which Israeli authorities wage chemical warfare on people who get in their way.

Features

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Last week I came up with some posts that will become recurring features.

The Win And The Fail – pretty self-explanatory, something good Wins and something bad Fails. Probably a Wednesday feature.

The Entertaining Survival Tip – Information that could be useful, but still makes me chuckle. This will be posted sporadically.

And today is of course Metal Monday, in this case death metal legends Suffocation and their new song Blood Oath.

The Win And The Fail

The Win: Wally Conger’s advice for “Smashing Wage Slavery One Job at a Time”. Conger lives a comfortable life without being tied to a job and he wants to help other people get there. Check his blog, and download his e-book.

The Fail: Guinness World Records set a new record for failure. Their website challenged viewers to top the September 11 attacks, and when Failblog posted a screenshot of this failure, Guinness sent them a threatening email for the “intellectual property” violation.

Speaking Of Blood

Monday, July 20th, 2009

The other night I flipped through my copy of John Wiseman’s The SAS Survival Handbook. (Google Books shows a newer version than I have.)

The Handbook is packed with great information and helpful graphics.

A passage in the “Handling the Kill” section says:

Do not waste blood. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, including salt, that could otherwise be missing from the survivor’s diet. Cattle blood is an important part of the diet of many African herdsmen. Cannibals who drank their enemies’ blood found vision and general health improved, and giddy spells, induced by vitamin deficiency, cured: the blood provided the missing vitamins and minerals.

There you have it. If you’re ever stranded, try drinking blood. But drink plenty of water with it, since you’ll need water to digest all that life force.

Metal Monday – Blood Is The Price Of Glory Edition

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Today’s eight and a half minutes of epic brutality brought to you by Ensiferum, Braveheart, and a YouTube poster who mixed the two.

I recently found out that Facebook doesn’t import embedded videos, so I’ll start adding Youtube links to posts with videos.

But you can always read my posts at darianworden.com/blog
